06.03.05 | And the worst movie ever made is...
The June 10th edition of Entertainment Weekly
(EW) features a more than three page long article by Dalton Ross in
which he proclaims what all MiSTies have long suspected... "Manos: The
Hands Of Fate" is indeed the WORST MOVIE EVER MADE! The article recounts
the entire history of how the 1960's movie was made and why and even how
it was discovered by a Minneapolis-based television show called Mystery
Science Theater 3000 one day as they were sifting through a box of tapes
sent from Comedy Central headquarters in New York City.
"We started watching it, and had never seen anything like that," said
Mike Nelson, head
writer at the time. "We kept saying to ourselves, There is no way we can
do this movie, it is just too bizarre. But we finally decided, No, we
must bring this to the world." And on
January 30, 1993, "Manos: The Hands Of Fate" made history as it appeared
on nationall
television and returned from the dead with a vengeance.
There are now two DVD versions of the film in release, countless Manos
and Torgo
websites, and more than a few disturbed movie viewers. Definitely worth
a read for
MiSTies and B-movie lovers. To read more, pick up the June 10th edition
of Entertainment Weekly.

05.23.05 | Edgewood Studios considering "Time
Chasers 2: Nick Of Time"
Edgewood Studios, the movie
studio behind the cult hit "Time Chasers," is considering a sequel
(tentatively titled "Time Chasers 2: Nick Of Time") thanks in large part
to MST3K and enthusiastic MiSTies. "We have been formally approached to
make a sequel to "Time Chasers," and have had a treatment developed for
some time" answered the original film's Writer/Director David Giancola,
"But we are a long way off from it being a 'go' production."
Giancola also admitted that, "...the film seems to get MORE, not less
popular each year as more fans are introduced to the original through
reruns of Mystery Science Theater and we do have a very unique take on
the story since the original cast has aged over a decade and that is key
to the new story." As for the original classic itself, Giancola has
announced that Edgewood Studios would very much like to release a
Director's Cut of the film, but this will likely only happen if there is
a big enough demand from fans.
To make this happen, Giancola is encouraging Time Chasers fans to
besiege video sites like www.dvdtalk.com and
www.dvdfile.com for the
release of an original Directors Cut of the film on DVD in it's original
letterbox format." Giancola also adds, "There are so many scenes missing
from all of the current different versions out there that I would love
to let the fans see the film's original cut which is almost 20 minutes
longer, and there are a TON of extras ready to go."
