Movie Summary  Movie: City On Fire:  A thoroughly routine disaster movie about the sweaty travails of a fire-fighting team led by Chief Albert Risley (Henry Fonda) squirting around a huge inferno after an explosion at an oil-refinery. Mayor Dudley (Leslie Nielsen) is a corrupt mayor who has allowed a chemical works to be built right in the center of town where it can do the most harm in the event of an accident or when an employee at the works named Herman has been denied an expected promotion and, in addition, finds that he is fired shortly thereafter. His retribution is swift to be sure. Unknowingly to his bosses, the last day of his job is also destined to be the last day of the chemical plant and he proceeds to opening all the valves to the storage vats and their interconnecting pipes. It does not take long for this act of trivial last day hijinks and amusing sabotage to start a fire that soon engulfs the entire city! Mayhem ensues. The story then shifts to a newly built hospital, which, like all civic buildings that went up during the mayor's crooked administration, is shoddily built and poorly equipped. To make matters even worse, there are babies to deliver and emergency operations to complete, and all of it is in the middle of Herman's holocaust. Barry Newman plays a doctor and his performance is not for the faint of heart. Chief Fonda purses his lips, and the rest of the cast scream, emote and generally irritate. And watch for the most disgusting CPR scene in movie history! Funny moments are stunt people running around on fire. Stop...drop...and roll...away from this movie.
